Symptoms and causes of prostate disorders

Most of men over fifty years old suffer from prostate problems of one form or another. The prostate gland is a male gland, comparable in size and shape to a large chestnut. It is located at the base of the bladder and around the start of the urethra.

There are several types of prostate disorders; the most important is hypertrophy or enlarged prostate gland, and prostatitis or inflammation in the prostate gland.

Symptoms of prostate disorders

To see if you or your partner are suffering from prostate disorders below will explain some of the symptoms that occur with this condition and what to seek medical help quickly if you need:

  • Obstruction with the urine passage: There are two warning signs that point toward the possibility of prostate disorders. The first is the interference with the urine passage, and the second is the need to drain the urine frequently during nighttime sleep.
  • Lumbar spine pain and hip pain: Other symptoms are dull pain in the lower back and pain in the hip, legs, and on the feet. The position of the prostate gland is prone to congestion and other disorders. In an upright position, the pressure drops in the pelvic region just where the prostate gland is located. With aging, the body becomes heavier and loses its flexibility. This puts great pressure on the pelvis and increases the vulnerability of the prostate gland.

Some causes of prostate disorders

  • Long sitting periods, prolonged sitting periods, as in certain occupations, also increases the pressure in the pelvic region, resulting in tissues congestion in and around the prostate.
  • Exposure to cold and infectious diseases: Acute prostatitis can be the result of exposure to cold and infectious illness. Chronic prostatitis is a side effect of the acute condition.
  • Excessive sexual excitement and constipation: It can also be originated by frequent irritation of the prostate due to excessive sexual excitement. Another important element that causes prostate disorders is constipation, especially when stools become hard and the rectum or colon is overloaded, generating undue pressure on the prostate gland.
